Refervescence’s director
If you were to meet Rebecca Penna for the first time you may be surprised to discover that she is actually English. In spite of her Italian surname, a physique that is far from that of an English rose and her impeccable French, you can still detect an English lilt in her French accent.
Her background
She is a young dynamic professional who has spent the majority of her working life in France where she settled in the early 1990’s after graduating from Sussex University with a degree in Linguistics and French. With a wealth of teaching experience already under her belt, she started out teaching English to professionals.
For ten years she worked at the British Consulate, (Marseille), rapidly rising to the position of Commercial Attaché (Vice-Consul) where she spent a highly rewarding seven years immersed in Franco-British business relations, acquiring a thorough economic and cultural knowledge of the region. She has built up an impressive business network over the years providing a wealth of contacts which are still invaluable today.
Her work included advising and accompanying British companies with their export strategy in France, undertaking tailored market research, managing teams and projects such as sector specific trade missions and high profile business events and writing Ambassador briefings and speeches. Today she has an active role with The Link, a Marseille based Franco-British business alliance, organising a number of corporate networking events.
